ICHM ADELAIDE

A 2+2 OPTION, OF 2 YEARS IN LAVASA AND 2 YEARS IN ICHM ADELAIDE

About ICHM Adelaide

Since being established in 1992 in partnership with the Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) and the South Australian Government, ICHM has produced graduates of the highest calibre that now work at all levels of management within the international hospitality industry.

ICHM’s unique “One Program, Two Degrees” course prepares you for a career in a wide variety of hospitality businesses. It also equips you with the necessary business acumen to work in a number of other professions outside the industry. The balance of theory and real industry placements provides graduates with a genuine advantage when competing for future employment.

Academic Semesters

During the academic semesters ICHM students are broadly informed about all aspects of the international hospitality industry, from a basic operational perspective right through to a senior management level within broader social, cultural and economic contexts.

Industry Placements

They are then provided with real industry placements within Australia or overseas that allow them to learn the industry first hand beyond the walls of their structured classes. This real world experience is invaluable in helping them understand the theoretical concepts they have learnt within a working environment; it also allows them to build significant industry networks.

ICHM graduates are working globally as supervisors and specialists right through to senior and general managers. A number also work outside the industry in areas such as marketing, IT, human resources and their own businesses.

HERE ARE 10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER ICHM

SWISS HOTEL ASSOCIATION (SHA)

ICHM was the first Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) school outside of Europe. It is also the only school approved to offer the SHA Bachelor of International Hotel Management.

For more than a century the Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) has set the standards in Swiss hotel management education for the rest of the world to follow.

Founded in 1882, the SHA is the official organisation of the hotel industry in Switzerland and in 1893 it opened the world’s first Swiss hotel management training school – Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) – recognised as the best European style hotel management school. Today the SHA has more than 3000 members from a variety of hotels, hotel chains and restaurants. In 1992, the Swiss Hotel Association played a major role together with the South Australian Government, in the formation of ICHM. This allows the SHA to have a school servicing the fast rising Asia Pacific region; students can study to the same high standards at ICHM rather than having to go to Europe.

It is only natural that a large number of hotel schools have been established, each placing a slightly different emphasis on various aspects of their courses. Aspiring hotel managers of today are advised to look closely at each course to ensure that their final choice is truly capable of delivering the professional education and training that they seek.

Students undertaking their studies at ICHM can complete one or two degrees, the first being the Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management), giving them a substantial knowledge base coupled with significant industry experience. Those that aim to reach the highest levels of the profession can then choose to go on to the more advanced Bachelor of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association), focusing on the international environment and giving graduates an additional edge.

See the Program pages for more details about both degrees.

“The Swiss Hotel Association has been working with the International College of Hotel Management for more than twenty years; and we are pleased that they deliver the very first SHA endorsed degree. The quality for which Swiss Hotel Association is famous is delivered in Australia by ICHM, and young men and women can enrol in Adelaide and be confident that they will benefit from our reputation. Many students will also benefit from the possibility of studying in Australia and its proximity to the dynamic Asia Pacific Region. We are extremely proud of this successful partnership.”
